Equine Obituary - Royal Seal
Royal Seal, May 5,1982-January 12,2010, 2yr old WGC 1984, had to be put down due to a bacterial infection in his hind hoof. The infection would not respond to medical attention causing his hoof to die from lack of circulation. He will be deeply missed by Kathy & Patrick Malone who he has lived with since 1994. Kathy said, "Seal did it all and taught me so much during my years in the show ring."
 
2009 GWHEA Awards Banquet

2009 Georgia Equine Youth Day
February 11, 2009 was a special day for all the Youth in Georgia that had participated in any Equine National Championship show or division. The newly formed Agricultural Commodity Commission for Equine held this special day to recognize the youth who had participated in a national equine show or event in 2008. These Youth from all disciplines and breeds were invited to the State Capital building of Georgia to come and be honored by The State of Georgia and the Department of Agriculture. Website Update
We have added the "Event Calendar" under the "Miscellaneous" dropdown. This calendar will be open for most horse related events in Georgia and surrounding areas. If you would like an event added to the calendar, email scottgreen_2000@yahoo.com with the specifics. Please check it out and give any feedback you have.
 
GWHLA Horse Show & Versatility Show Rescheduled
The GWHLA show will be held in Edison, GA on October 31, 2009 and will start at 3:30. Miles Irby will be the Judge. Everyone please try to make plans to attend and support the GWHLA. We know it is a little far for most but hope everyone is understanding of the situation that forced the cancellation of the original show. Hopefully next year we can have the show in a more centralized location.

Don’t forget about the dog show and costume contest on the break. There will be a silent auction and a cake walk. Local vendors will be on location as well. The Lions Club will be selling concessions. Richard West will be selling Chicken Q tickets. The plates will have ½ a chicken, green beans, potato salad and bread and will be sold for $6.00 each. You can contact Reeves Lane or Mandie McFay if you are interested. Hope everyone will make plans to attend and we look forward to seeing you there!

The Versatility show will be held the morning of the Heard Co. show.

 
Website Update
The GWHLA website is now part of the GWHEA website. The GWHLA plans to work closely with GWHEA this year to bring a renewed interest to Walking Horses back to the people in Georgia.
 
2008 GWHEA High Points Changes
Effective for the 2008 show season, the GWHEA High Points will be kept strictly on the website. This means you will not need to turn in you points sheets at the end of the year. We will tabulate awards based on the results displayed on the website. So please check your results carefully.
